New Zealand beat Australia 50-19 at Eden Park on Saturday. They scored seven tries to three and kept the Bledisloe Cup for a 24th straight season.

The All Blacks led only 17-14 at halftime. Then they won the second half 33-5, scoring five tries to one. New Zealand put on 26 unanswered points before Josh Nasser's maul try got one back for Australia.

The win was New Zealand's 12th in a row over the Wallabies. Australia have not won at Eden Park since 6 September 1986. The NZ Herald noted before kick-off that the All Blacks had gone 53 matches unbeaten at the ground, and that their last loss there was to France in 1994.

It was Dave Rennie's first Test against his former side. It was also Les Kiss's first defeat since he took over from Joe Schmidt as Wallabies coach, and it ended Australia's six-match unbeaten run.

Peter Lakai, Tupou Vaa'i, Cam Roigard, captain Codie Taylor, Leroy Carter, Josh Moorby and Will Jordan scored New Zealand's tries. Jordan's late try was his ninth of the year. Tom Wright, Harry Wilson and Nasser scored for Australia.

Damian McKenzie started at first five-eighths because Richie Mo'unga was injured. Beauden Barrett played fullback. RugbyPass said it was McKenzie's first start at No.10 in 2026, and that his line-breaks led to both first-half tries. He kicked six conversions and a penalty and beat four defenders.

Planet Rugby put the win down to discipline. The All Blacks got a team warning inside the first ten minutes for collapsing a maul. After that, they never gave Irish referee Andrew Brace a reason to reach for his top pocket.

Their set piece was messier. RugbyPass called the first-half lineout "error-ridden". Planet Rugby's figures show New Zealand won 80 per cent of their own throws, against Australia's 92 per cent. They also conceded 13 turnovers to Australia's six and still won by 31 points. Most of the difference came in defence. Australia made 200 tackles to New Zealand's 144 and missed 30 of them.

Wilson made 28 tackles, 11 more than anyone else on the field. Jordie Barrett carried 12 times and made 16 tackles.

"Tonight was probably a step back for us as we didn't win those big moments," Wilson said, as quoted by ABC. "When you give the All Blacks a bit of ball, it's hard to get it back."

One Wallaby made history off the bench. Former All Blacks prop Aidan Ross came on alongside Massimo De Lutiis. His 58th-minute appearance made Ross the first player of the professional era to play Test rugby both for and against New Zealand, according to the NZ Herald's live coverage. He is one of only five men to have played Tests for both countries.

The sides meet again on Saturday 17 October at Stadium Australia in Sydney. With the Cup already decided, that week is about who's fit and who gets picked.

Once Mo'unga and Ruben Love are fit, Rennie will have three first five-eighths to choose from, and Planet Rugby says he has a call to make at 10, for Sydney and beyond.

New Zealand's list is getting longer. Scott Barrett failed his HIA on his return, according to Planet Rugby. Carter hurt his ankle while scoring and was replaced by Moorby, who went on to score as well. Anton Segner left with a head wound after a collision with a team-mate. With Barrett now in doubt, the locks for Sydney are an open question.

Australia have a problem of their own. Centre Len Ikitau failed an HIA.
